Bashees is one the two sphinx-type chimaera that make up the notorious and widely feared pair known as "The Shadows that Live." Her partner is Tangris.

Appearance[]

Tangris and Bashees are identical. They aren't large or terrible. Bashees has the sphinx-like aspect of a panther, with a dusky black, fine-boned, and softly furred body. Bashees has wings of dark owl feathers, which is what allows her to move so silently. She has the head of a woman and delicate cat feet. Bashees is beautiful in her way. She has a sinuous stride.

Personality[]

Bashees, along with Tangris, has a very chilling reputation due to their skills. They are capable strategists. Even the seraphim fear them. They often keep to themselves and don't speak much. Despite how most others treat them, with fear and respect, they seem to get along well with Zuzana Novakova. They don't seem to faze her and they strike up a friendship despite speaking different languages.

Background[]

Bashees and her partner Tangris make up the duo known as "The Shadows that Live," feared assassins that move silently and swiftly. They are known for their ability to disguise themselves using glamour and silently killing whole legions of seraphim in their sleep.

Plot[]

Days of Blood & Starlight[]

Tangris and Bashees are sent on a mission by Thiago to "send a message" to the emperor. They somehow murder one hundred seraph soldiers at the Thisalene garrison, which is located half a day's journey from Astrae, in a single night without making a single sound.

Bashees and Tangris are, for the most part, silent and do not interact with their peers. Even Thiago treats them with a deference he show no other soldiers. Like the other chimaera, they seem to take a liking to Zuzana Nováková and Mikolas Vavra while they are at the kasbah.

When Karou finally takes a stand against Thiago, Tangris and Bashees take her side. Later, Thiago kills them at the Pit, but their souls are gleaned and placed into thuribles.

Dreams of Gods & Monsters[]

Tangris and Bashees are resurrected by Karou. When Jael comes back from Earth, he believes his army has won and was expecting a female seraph in his room. A fake soldier tells him she is already there. When Jael calls her to his bed, however, it turns out to be Liraz who was waiting to capture him. Two shadowy forms materialized from above, Tangris and Bashees. The twin chimaeras help Liraz take him in as a prisoner.

Relationships[]
